Coasting Along

Sorry it has been so long...sometimes life gets away from you and you forget to stop and breathe.  Breathing easy right now.  After our last meetings with the school they have made significant changes for Austin at school, all for the better and it's about time.  The negative talk has subsided and he is in a better place.   We love his new para Becky she works wonderfully with him and seems to "get" him.  And we are happy to say that they have a designated area for him now to help him calm down when he needs to and help wake him up when he is tired.  Whew finally feeling like we are being heard!  Instead of trying to address the behaviors they are actually addressing his Asperger's.  That is not to say things are perfect but they are however much better.  I am as we say cautiously optimistic.

The raffle is going well and we are getting closer to our goal to get Austin his service dog.  So excited to be this much closer.  We watched a special on National Geographic Channel on working dogs, wow how amazing and what a blessing these dogs are, such a gift for our son.  Our family is dreaming of a day when we all feel a little more secure in knowing that Austin has someone on his side at all times, even we are not with him.  We have had a few instances in the last couple of weeks when we have been out running errands and Austin has needed deep pressure and calming help, the dog will be able to provide that to him immediately.  We will keep you all posted on the ongoing process.  Thank you all so much!

Raffle tickets still available for $5 each!
